Blues re-harmonization

Blues Re-harmonization

Lets check again the chords from basic blues form. How we can replace chords in the Blues?

Form

How to do it?

If you have a bass in your band, you can replace all normal chords with chords a major third above.  Every time we replace a dominant X7 chord with a chord a major third above, we get a Xm7b5. For example if we have A7 chord, we can replace it with C#m7b5.

Replacement result

The sound result is quite interesting. When we play the C#m7b5 with the bass in A7, we get the ninth of A7. This also happens when we replace the chords D7 and E7 with F#m7b5 and G#m7b5 respectively.
